A drop-off is a step down in the trail. The easiest drop-off is
one that can be ridden at speed. Speed hop at the lip to
prevent the front wheel from dropping. This can result in a very
smooth landing and is one of the easiest types of jump to
perform.

This is really just the opposite of way steep descending (DUH!). You
need to find the balance point as you climb, which moves forwards on
the bike the steeper you go.

The key to technical down-hilling is to relax your upper body. The
steeper and rockier the down-hill, the more tightly the rider grips the
bar. A rider will slow down as they approach an obstacle, say a rock,
applying both brakes as they go.

Nothing strikes as much fear into a rider as a rock garden. Rocks
prove that Columbus was right_the world isn't flat. In fact, large
sections of it are round. Climbing and descending through rocky
sections can be treacherous. Falling onto hard, pointed objects is a
painful way to find out that Queen Isabella was wrong.
